How to increase your Invitation Numbers 2 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 2027
A lot of people are interested in using the invite tool in order to get their friends involved in the site. Many of these people even know how to use the invite tool (it is pretty simple, and there are a few posts about how to use it), but they need a little guidance with HOW to use it. Let me see if I can help...

First off, most everyone involved in this site actively participates in some form of MMA or BJJ. If not actively training, you are at least a fan- otherwise you wouldn?t be registered at the site. That being said, you probably have a few friends and/or training partners that are also into MMA. This being the case, here are a couple of ideas that you can use to help boost your numbers and the site at the same time:

1. Next time you go to the gym, take a piece of paper and a pen. Before you finish reading this post- go ahead and go get a pen and paper and put it in your gym bag. Now, when you go to the gym, get everyone as they come in to write their email address down on the piece of paper. You can tell them what it's for, and tell them to check their email later that night. Right when you get home from the gym, login to the site and go to the invite tool. Add the email addresses that you have just gotten from the gym, and import any from your email address book that might be interested as well. Insert your own personal message, and click send. Now if they accept your invite, you will automatically have a new friend connection and will receive credit for each person!

2. Next idea... Almost everyone has a MySpace page these days. If you don't, you can create one. They are completely free to have, and you can even customize it for an MMA theme if you'd like. Heck, if you need help, please ask me and I'll gladly customize it and throw some of your banners and namecard links in there with it. As for the namecard (since this post is about the invitation feature), go to your profile and click on the "My Invitations" tab. Now you should see a blue link that says "(Username)?s Namecard." Click on that link and you'll see a new box that opens up. This is your namecard page, and down at the bottom of that new window there are a couple of links. Copy and paste the middle box (the HTML) anywhere into your MySpace Page and it will automatically insert that image that you see, as well as your namecard link. If anyone clicks it and signs up, you automatically get credit. If you would like to personalize the message on your namecard, simply go to the Update Profile page and click on the My Invitations tab. The message that you write in that box will show up at the bottom of your namecard page when a visitor hits your page. This is an extremely effective and easy way to pull in members. I've had my namecard on MySpace for only a few days and already have more than 5 new members that way.

3. The third idea is very similar to #2. That is in regards to Facebook. Since Facebook will not allow you to use HTML code, you will have to just use the namecard link (the first box on your namecard page) in the "Website" field of your profile. The rest acts the same as #2.

4. The last way that I'm going to mention is to use the bbCode for your namecard (the bottom box on your namecard page). If you are a member of other MMA communities around the internet, chances are they have a message board. Now while I would love for you to put all of your time and energy into TFW's message board, it could be quite beneficial for you to make a post or two in a couple of different forums. Just make sure to copy and paste that bbCode from the namecard page into your post (or even use it as your signature, if the site will allow it) so that it embeds the image. This will place the image and a link in the forums, and if someone else who is reading your posts clicks on your namecard and registers, then you have a new friend and get credit for one more person!

If you think about it, if everyone at the site brought in 1 person, we would double in size almost instantly. Obviously not everyone is going to get involved with it, but just as obvious some people are going to bring in a lot more than 1 person. Right now we are pushing 600 members. If we averaged one friend per member, we would be at 1,200 users in no time. If those users then brought one friend.... Well, you get the point. And let's just be honest, we all have at least one friend who we could bring in. The question is not "can you;" but rather "WILL YOU?"

Guys-- I want to thank everyone for starting to get involved in this. It is really helping build our numbers, and I think that will be very important for the success of this site.

If you are one of the many people who have added the namecard badge to your MySpace profile or personal website, PLEASE post a link to it here! I would certainly appreciate the opportunity to check our your site!
