Being the disadvantaged fighter you need to accept one undeniable truth. You are going to get hit getting in and getting out. Taller guys who have any compitant training are taught to circle and snipe. Range is key. If you take a tall guy and have him stand with his jab extended his effectve range on his cross should be about two fist lengths past he end of his jab to about two fist legnths inside his jab. Anything past is really reaching. And anything closer is just stuffing the punch befor is can reach it's maximum potential. So defense, covering up and odd angles are a big key to getting in and out w/o taking anything major in the way of damage. Good head movement will keep him guessing. Stay just outof range and move. Cut off the ring and throw a ton of fakes and feints. Once you get him to bite and throw a punch he's just opened the door for you to come inside.

Just sayin.... I'm 6'5" and haven't had to fight anybody taller than me yet. The shorter guys that give me fits aren't the guys who stand in front of me and play Rock-em' Sock-em' Robots. Those idiots just wind up out of their effective range and eating heavier leather than what they are dishing.

If I were a smaller guy fighting me I'd:
1)Don't let me settle into a rythm. Smaller guys who push it from he get go don't let me get my range. It's a jedi mind trick. As a taller fighter I know I am primarily reactionary/defensive. But when I can force that game on you and force you to come after me it gives me that "I'm in control" feeling. You get right after me and really force me to be defensive all I really want to do is circle out, get away and estblish range.
2)Don't paw at me. If you do tag me with a jab I know you are in hook/uppercut range. Being a shorter fighter is like being a party crasher. Be sneaky, get in, tear up as much sh*t as you can in the shortest amount of time possible & and never leave the same way you came in. I aint sayin to not use the jab. Just don't get repetative with it. As a tall guy I can jab, bairly touch you and you still have to come after me. If you are short and can bairly touch a guy with your jab you are more than bairly in my range.
3)Fake to the head in order to murder the body. Don't stand inside and go for noggin shots. If you have to draw eyes and a nose on somebodies belly just to have a face to face convorsation than fight at that level. Effective shorter body fighters eat my damed lunch.

I am 6'1", but the two guys I spar with are 6'4" (also have an abnormally long reach!)...I have terrible head movement, IMO, and I have been a bit repetitive with my jab (from fighting mostly shorter guys I guess).

What would be some good ways to improve head movement?
