Hi

In what way would it be best to learn how to time punches, the best counter punches etc...


I get it right sometimes, I dont stare at the opponents gloves, Stare at his chest and use my 3D vision or is perleferral vision to see upper body and lower body punches but i seem to be to slow

The most basic counter is "punch with the last hand thrown". As is he's hit you with a right you counter with a right. If he throws a 3 shot combo ending with a left hook you throw a left. The only real variance on this approach is the slip and hook to the body. But this is a good staring point. Forces you to pay attention in practice.

To get faster I use reaction drills. Easiest one is just throwing straight jabs and crosses at the mitts. His right mit means your right hand and his left your left. He'll start with the mits chest to chin high and palms to the floor. As soon as you see him move the mitt you throw the corrisponding punch.

Another is to shadow box with your trainer standing behind you calling out combinations.
