Toney met with Dana White apparently. Toney figures he is a shoe-in for the heavyweight title!
Toney is my all-time favourite boxer, but this is just stupid:
''I know a lot of them think they would f*ck me up and they gonna shoot in on me and all of that, but I ain’t going to the ground; that ain’t happening.''
Bhahahahaha! That sounds like the crap we used to spout in the beginning days of the Gracie challenge matches. The fact that I was once a victim of that delusion makes it easy for me to say how stupid it is.

Honestly though, it's great that you were able to make the switch out of that mentality. Not allowing yourself to grow as a fighter is naive, so allowing yourself to grow in other areas shows the signs of self-improvement!

And thinking your one aspect of the entire game is just so good you don't have to work on anything else is a quick way to a horrible, short and humiliating career in MMA.
BTW, a strict boxing style, and especially Toney's, is tailor made for a takedown. Not to mention the guy is so retarded for himself that he'll most likely try to half ass his conditioning regiment. And I bet me two rubbin pocket pennies that he'll go about any sort of conditioning program like a boxer. My money is if he lasts 4 minutes he'll be dead in 5 and if he survives one round he won't answer the bell for round 2.
I'll never talk crap on boxing. As it was my first love in combative sports and I am currently a USA sanctioned coach, ref, time keeper & judge. But do you know how much of my 16 years background in box I use in MMA??? About 3%. Basically it's some punch mechanics and some movement and that's it.
This guy is in it for a payday and the residuals. If he actually thinks he has any long term shot w/o any adjustments then he's been beaned in the head too many times.

Thanks. Also, grappling is just a lot of fun too, although for health reasons I am unable to do much serious ground training.

Toney is not even a natural heavyweight, he is an fat middleweight. Can you imagine him against Lesnar? Lesnar would pick him up and throw him out of the cage into the third row.

We're assuming that Lesnar is going to fight again. I'm not so sure. I hope he does, honestly. I hope that he continues to contribute to the HW division, but it's been too long without many updates. I'm pessimistic about his return.
