It's easier to sprinkle stardust on "what could have been" than it is "what never happened". I can easily see them errecting some Fedor-esque like legacy around Lesnar. If he's done now he can never go down in flames. And even if he does make it back to he cage and loses. It'll be a "he was just never the same after situation.
