It is possible for you to post an open invitation so that anyone who clicks it can register for a site. These are useful in a couple of ways... In particular: MySpace, Facebook, and email list groups (and all of your organizations have one).

Almost everyone has a MySpace page these days. If you don't, you can create one. They are completely free to have. As for the namecard (since this post is about the invitation feature), go to your profile and click on the "My Invitations" tab. Now you should see a blue link that says "(Username)’s Namecard." Click on that link and you'll see a new box that opens up. This is your namecard page, and down at the bottom of that new window there are a couple of links. Copy and paste the middle box (the HTML) anywhere into your MySpace Page and it will automatically insert that image that you see, as well as your namecard link. If anyone clicks it and signs up, you automatically get credit. If you would like to personalize the message on your namecard, simply go to the Update Profile page and click on the My Invitations tab. The message that you write in that box will show up at the bottom of your namecard page when a visitor hits your page. This is an extremely effective and easy way to pull in members.

The next way is very similar to the first. That is in regards to Facebook. Since Facebook will not allow you to use HTML code, you will have to just use the namecard link (the first box on your namecard page) in the "Website" field of your Facebook profile. The rest acts the same as the first method mentioned. This is the same link that you would use if you were sending an invite across an email list group which will have multiple recipients.
