wow i posted this a year ago and i am so happy that to this day people are still putting their two bits in. well its been a year and i did make a huge change in my diet at the time. but these days i've been off the diet i set for myself and this thread is inspiring me to get back into it. Thanks for all the input, i really appreciate it and am taking everything to heart. please keep responding and helping me find my way into fitness. the new muay thai class i'm starting to take it kickin my ass too so thats a good thing. thanks.
I've been dieting hardcore myself. No real reason (ie- no fight coming up), but want to get in better shape again. Life happens.
That being said- low calorie diet has had me losing 9+ pounds in 15 days. For one of the first times in my life, I'm trying to lose weight "the right way."

I can't see anyone grading you if you don't train at their gym.
Aside from the reasons already mentioned, I run a club and have had guys join and tell me that they have a black belt in something and are willing to help out. I always say thanks, and then treat them the same as if they'd never trained a day in their life. My reasons are:
1) They might suck
2) I have a reputation to uphold for my club and its members
3) My guys and gals work hard and its unfair to let someone new step in and get special treatment
All that said, there is a guy who showed up a year ago. He had just come back from spending a year in Japan training. For months I just checked him out, making sure his story was legit. Now he is my main training partner and he helps out around the club. I respect his opinion.
A clubs reputation is everything. I personally don't want my club to be seen as a place where people can "buy" belts. Well, depends on the price I guess ;)

Subject: Randy at 205 - by: lenrob
Like I've said before, Randy is a legit 205 fighter, even at his advanced age. I always thought he would be a tough stylistic matchup for Machida, or even Shogun for that matter.

I must say I was disappointed overall. Edgar's performance was outstanding, but Penn looked like a total chump. I despise Penn but even I felt sorry for him because his corner offered no technical advice, nor did they even try to snap him out of the daze he was in for almost the whole fight. After the first couple of minutes he started sleepwalking through the fight, more or less resigned to losing. Everyone knew what he needed to do to at least try to get back in the fight - except his corner apparently...
Maybe he keeps those guys around just to pump up his ego?
Marcus Davis looked terrible! He stood flat footed and flailed away like a complete amateur, and he didn't listen to the good advice he was getting from his corner. I've never seen him look so bad, I know it has much to do with Diaz's style, but still.
I look forward to seeing Maynard fight Edgar for the title!

Subject: mir vs cro cop - by: Richard
I think that Mir will take this one. He will be able to offset anything CroCop has to offer on the feet, and once it hits the ground- CroCop will go to sleep. Remember the Kongo fight? Repeat...
